Job Description: Vibration FieldTechnician

Condition Monitoring Services Inc (CMS) is seeking a Vibration Field Technician to collect data at various job sites; training is provided, experience is not required though familiarity with machinery is a plus. The successful candidate will receive training in Vibration Data Collection and Analysis, Infrared Inspection, Laser Alignment, Field Machine Balancing, permanent condition monitoring systems installation and maintenance.
 
This is a terrific opportunity to enter the Condition Based Monitoring Reliability Field with opportunities to move into higher skill level employment such as a Vibration Analyst or a Reliability Maintenance Engineer. A college degree is not required in this industry to be successful. 
 
Opportunity for hybrid work available as skill sets improve in database management, analysis, and report generation. 
 
This is a field position and requires inside and outside work in diverse types of environments; climbing ladders and over or under equipment will be part of your day. Computer skills are required. 
 
This position will require on-site work with overnight travel in the southwestern United States, additional travel to other areas may be required. Major cities currently serviced are Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Prefer Southern California or Las Vegas area-based employee but will consider applicants in other areas of Nevada. Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities 
Collect vibration, ultrasonic, and IR data on machinery at various job sites. (Power plants, productions manufacturing facilities, open pit mines, etc.)
Upload collected data. Maintain and improve upon customer database as needed.
Work independently and efficiently without direct supervision after the training phase is complete. 
Use common sense and the best judgement for decision making.
Maintain communication with management and data analyst for changing on-site conditions or customer needs.
Generate reports on the latest monitored equipment in a timely manner. 
Collect and update information on customer monitored assets to maintain accurate report records.
Collect Oil samples in accordance with guidelines. Drop off package for shipment to analysis laboratory.
Office related tasks, as necessary. Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
Maintain high level of integrity and safety for work performed. Must comply with all Company SAFETY rules (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, ETC). Hazards are present with this occupation such as heat exposure, rotating equipment, elevated noise, elevated walking platforms, etc. Safety equipment is provided. 
Perform additional tasks as directed.
 
 
Vibration Field Technician:  Work Environment & Physical Demands

Must comply with ALL SAFETY regulations.
The on-site environment will include wet or humid conditions (weather and non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (weather and non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts and near electricity, potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. 
The Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Maximum unassisted lift of 50 lbs.
Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend at waist, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
Use of lifts may be required.
Must be able to climb a minimum 30-foot ladder.
Occasionally work will be in confined space.


 

Job Title: Field Analyst – Predictive Maintenance (Level 2 Vibration Analyst)
Location: Southern & Central California (Travel-Based)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a mid-level Field Analyst to support our field service team with machinery alignments, in-place balancing, vibration testing, and other predictive maintenance services. This is a travel-heavy role, with primary work focused in Southern and Central California, along with occasional assignments in Northern California, Nevada, Arizona, and nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform machinery alignments, vibration analysis, and in-place balancing in various industrial settings
  • Conduct routine and advanced predictive maintenance assessments
  • Accurately collect and analyze data using industry-standard technologies
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients in a clear, professional manner
  • Maintain and manage equipment, company vehicle, and documentation
Qualifications:
  • Level 2 Vibration Analyst Certification (or the ability to obtain Level 2 shortly)
  • Experience with predictive maintenance tools and technologies
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and interacting directly with clients
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
